Hello, I’m The Cotswold Midwife, and I’m so glad you’re here.
My name is Sacha and for more than 15 years, I have dedicated my professional life to midwifery within the NHS, gaining extensive experience across a wide range of clinical, educational and leadership roles. My journey has taken me from the heart of busy labour wards to the quieter, more intimate spaces of community care, giving me a deep understanding of birth in all its forms. I have supported and facilitated every type of birth – straightforward, complex, planned, spontaneous, at home, and in hospital – and these years have shaped my belief that women and families deserve safe, personalised, and deeply respectful care.
Much of my career was spent on the labour ward, where I gained invaluable hands-on experience supporting women and families through some of the most intense and transformative moments of their lives. As a labour ward lead midwife, I was responsible not only for clinical decision-making and co-ordinating care, but also for creating an environment where women felt safe, supported and heard. This role strengthened my ability to remain calm and confident in unpredictable situations, always keeping the woman and her baby at the centre of every choice.
My commitment to safe, evidence-based practice later led me into education. As a practice education midwife, I taught midwives, student midwives, doctors and maternity support workers how to manage emergencies across all birth settings. I developed and delivered training that improved confidence, teamwork and safety – skills that I now bring directly into my independent practice. I am also a qualified Newborn Life Support Instructor, which means I have taught countless clinicians how to respond swiftly and effectively when a baby needs help at birth. This expertise allows families in my care to feel reassured that they are supported by someone with a high level of clinical competence.
“Every woman deserves a pregnancy and birth experience where she feels informed, empowered and truly supported.”

I have also held leadership positions that broadened my perspective on maternity care as a whole. As a matron for education, I oversaw the development and wellbeing of the maternity workforce, ensuring that staff had the skills and support they needed to deliver safe and compassionate care. Today, in my role as a consultant midwife within the NHS, I work at a strategic level-shaping services, influencing practice, and advocating for models of care that genuinely meet the needs of women and families. This role has further strengthened my commitment to continuity of carer and personalised complex birth planning.
All of this experience informs the care I offer as an independent midwife. I support families with birth debriefs, helping them make sense of previous experiences, and I specialise in complex birth planning for both home and hospital settings. Whether you are hoping for a straightforward physiological birth or navigating a more complicated pregnancy, my aim is to create a plan that reflects your values, your needs, and your autonomy. Full antenatal and postnatal care with no limitations or barriers, means I can give you the time, support and educational you desire to help with birth mapping.
Continuity of carer is the foundation of my practice. After years of witnessing the difference it makes, I am passionate about providing a model of care where you know your midwife, and feel held, informed and respected throughout your journey. Research consistently shows that having a trusted midwife throughout pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period can reduce preterm birth, lower rates of baby loss, and increase the likelihood of a physiological birth. Women receiving continuity of care are less likely to need a caesarean section or forceps delivery, tend to experience shorter labours, use fewer pain-relieving medications, and are more likely to breastfeed successfully. Most importantly, they report feeling happier with their birth experience and are less likely to experience postnatal depression.
My goal is to bring together all the knowledge, skill and wisdom I’ve gained across my NHS career and offer it to you in a way that feels personal, compassionate and grounded. Every woman deserves a pregnancy and birth experience where she feels informed, empowered and truly supported – and it is my privilege to walk alongside you at every step of that journey.
